Introduction
Black Swan Cottage dates back to 1550 and is thought to be the oldest property in Ashford-in-the-Water. Many of the original 16th century features are still visible. Restored in 2007 this cottage lies in the heart of Ashford-in-the Water, one of the most attractive villages in the Peak District. It is situated at the start of many beautiful walks. The Monsal Dale Viaduct (and, importantly, the famous Monsal Head pub and restaurant) is a short walk across the fields. Chatsworth House and Bakewell lie within a few miles and the whole Peak District is in easy reach. Black Swan Cottage is a perfect location for anyone seeking to walk, cycle, fish or just eat and drink their way around the Peak District.
